Future Goals

Everyone has a goal or two. Or three. In my case, I have a few. Many of these are ones that I have been considering and wanting to work towards anyway, but I am seriously starting to make moves in my own life to start to achieve them. All of these are long term goals. Goals I will achieve slowly and over time. However, I am looking at them within a 5-year time frame. I am 24 so by the time these are achieved (or close to!) I will be 29 years old (for a bit of context). These goals are in no particular order.
  • Move out of home
I am looking at moving out of home in the next two or so years. I want to save quite a bit more money. I talk about this a bit more below but I really wished I had saved more when I was at Big W; it would have helped a lot with this goal.
  • Engaged or be talking about marriage (in a serious manner)
I am currently in a serious relationship that I can see us still together in 5 years. I haven’t spoken in depth about this with my partner (probably should) but I can see us growing old together. I can see us getting married (and probably standing on each other’s toes during the dancing).
  • Be talking about kids
Not at the moment, but I would like to have kids of my own one day. Ideally, I’d love to wait until I am a bit more settled into work and for my partner to have finished his automotive mechanic apprenticeship; but life throws it’s own challenges so we will see where we end up.
  • Have steady teaching work
I really want to be able to have a steady income and a steady amount of work. While Term 4 is notoriously slow, in regard to TRT work, I hope to be able to have a 6 month to a year contract (at minimum) to be able to accommodate that and be able to save.
  • Pay off my car
I have had my car just over a year at the point of writing this and I want to be able to say that I have paid a large majority of it off.
  • Have between $15-20K in savings (not including what I have already)
By the end of 2020, I want to have $15K in savings, by the end of 2021, I want to have doubled that. Hopefully within I can keep this up and have saved quite a lot in the next five years.

I want to be able to have reached a level of personal stability within my life and my career and be able to move forward independently. I hope that by having these goals, I can achieve a lot going forward.
